My wife dragged me kicking and screaming to our first session together at Fitness Rangers. Like many unlearned men of my age, years of self taught weight-lifting from YouTube videos and squandered riches on home workout tapes had given me the ridiculous idea that I knew how to exercise. Sure, my bench press was reasonable, and I could cheat my way through a dozen pull-ups, but I kept having to convince myself my ‘genetics’ prevented me from achieving the true ‘lean’ look and that maybe my kidneys were just bigger than everyone else’s and THAT’s why my abdominals always looked a little bloated.
Then came the first HALF of the bootcamp. I looked down at the treadmill clock, wondering in passing if my coronaries had some sort of partial blockage, and realized something that was lurking in the back of my mind but had never manifested until Chris Kirkwood told us there were another 20 minutes left in the class: The concept that most people, by themselves, will never. maintain. the intensity. necessary. to effect. change.
The beauty of Fitness Rangers is its trainers will push you at a level you are unlikely to sustain by yourself. And you will come back again and again because no two workouts are the same. And the compound movements are designed to blast calories while letting you have a good time doing it. And the music is so blow-your-mind I execute amazing dance moves (in my mind) while working out. The workout is efficient. It will accomplish in 50 minutes what you would have done texting on your cell phone at your own gym doing the elliptical for like, the rest of your life.
The gym is beautiful. At first analysis the membership may seem pricey, but I’m telling you that I’ve had numerous expired gym memberships, dust-collecting exercise equipment, shelves of bland exercise DVDs, and a cabinet full of I-don’t-know-what-I-was-thinking-I-have-no-idea-what-I’m-doing whey protein jars, and the ONLY worthwhile investment I ever made in my fitness was taking that first class at Fitness Rangers.
I’ve got fitness goals. I won’t flower this up–I want to look better naked and live longer for my family. I’m ten pounds down and stronger than ever. I increased my pullups from 12 “cheaty” to 15 strict; my bench press improved from 5 reps of 225 pounds to 8 reps of 235 pounds, and my waist size decreased 3 inches. I’m pretty sure Adam has a crush on me. More importantly, my wife finds me attractive again. I’m less likely to be THAT guy–you know, the one inexplicably wearing a t-shirt in the swimming pool (“UV exposure is so bad for you that’s why!!–yeah buddy). People are SO FRIENDLY there. If you are nice to me I’ll ditch my regular friends and partner with you!
Take a class, sign up, and change your life.

I walked into my first Fitness Rangers Bootcamp in May 2010. I was 56 years old and could do maybe two sit-ups and no push-ups. I hadn’t done a burpee since 1970. As I approach my three year anniversary – and my 60th birthday – I do not regret my decision to try FR!
I allowed myself the opportunity to see what I could do, instead of living with what I thought I could not do. My results are nothing short of amazing. My personal best for push-ups in one workout are over 100. I compete against my biggest challenger — myself — to just do more this week than I did last week. I’m very interested in the statistics that surround success. In 2011 I worked out at Fitness Rangers 49 out of 52 weeks. Every workout concluded with one thought, ‘I am so glad to be here – HOORAH!’
Last year I made a goal to do a chin up before my 59th birthday. I have worked extremely hard towards that goal, but have not yet got my chin over the bar unassisted. Reaching a goal, while important, isn’t as important as the journey to get there. My success lies in the consistency of effort and improvements I have made this year. I will achieve that chin up because I refuse to give up. (Although, if I knew how hard it was to do a chin up — I might have set a different goal!) The encouragement and help I have received from all the FR instructors is epic. I am not an elite athlete — I’m just a middle aged women working hard every day. I am doing what seemed to be impossible, and realizing that with consistency and patience with myself I can not only do what seemed impossible, I can do one more rep. If I can do it anyone can!

FR Performance Athlete Makes Great Strides
February 11, 2013
Fitness Rangers performance wants to highlight one of our performance athletes, Jenner Chapman. Jenner came to us this summer inquiring about training for his upcoming rugby season. He came in with a hand full of goals. First, he wanted to earn a starting position on Christian Brothers Varsity Rugby team. Second, he wanted help training to put on some lean body mass without having to give up any of his speed (which isn’t the easiest thing to do.)
Through Jenner’s dedicated training at Fitness Rangers he has made incredible improvements using our Vertimax Trainer, Olympic weightlifting equipment, as well as our Turf room. The end result is great! Jenner has put on 15lbs of lean body mass and has increased his speed, strength, and agility on and off the field.
All of Jenner’s hard work has helped him earn a position on Christian Brothers’ Rugby team as the starting outside center where Jenner scored two trys (equivalent to a touchdown in football) in the teams latest tournament at the 29th annual KOT. Jenner’s success is a testament to athletes everywhere that hard work does pay off! Watch a short video of some of his training below.

‘No excuses, you better be there!’ was the last thing I remember Adam saying to me when I began my journey at Fitness Rangers in March 2012. I showed up that next Saturday morning at 9:00am with no clue what to expect. I quickly realized how out of shape I was
and had moments of thinking I wouldn’t make it through… but I was hooked! Like most first timers, it took virtually no time to see what sets this experience apart from the rest. Using a combination of treadmill (spin bike or even the ERG – Thank you Matt Gilbert), TRX, and a variety of other physically demanding exercises, it was arguably the best and most rigorous workout I had in years; and the workout easily kept my attention from start to finish!
In a matter of weeks, I found myself drawn to the state-of-the-art environment, teamwork, trainers and workouts. The ever-changing routine and great music continue to motivate and inspire me to ‘show up’ and give my best! Also, the variety offered during my FR workouts, as well as the fact that the trainers make it a point to know everyone individually, I am never bored and am able to strengthen my athletic skills and stamina in areas that I practice outside the gym, such as distance running. As a result I have set first time goals and records (including achieving my sub 7 minute/mile half marathon goal that I posted on the goal wall) and increased endurance so I could participate in things that I never envisioned in the past. What an amazing feeling to accomplish while being continuously supported by a community and team-oriented environment that share the same enthusiasm!
Fad workouts come and go and are not always designed for everyone. FR allows anyone to step in, challenge themselves… and find their stride while feeling their best! Whether joining a Pilates class, opting into a Burpee contest, peeking over to see what’s happening in the Turf room, catching a glimpse of a future boxing champ, or simply signing up for some great 1 on 1 personal training from the best in town… Fitness Rangers offers a comprehensive and fresh alternative to workouts that surpass anything Sacramento has ever seen!
Thank you Adam, Chris, Matt, Jason, Matt B. & Dana

Fitness Rangers Team,
I’ve been working with Fitness Rangers Bootcamp and doing personal training sessions with Adam for over 6 years now, and I think back to before Fitness Rangers existed and remember how boring & monotonous my normal gym routine was.
Fitness has always played a huge part in my life, and through my pregnancy over the past year. I believe, to achieve results you have to love what you’re doing and who is surrounding you throughout your workouts, which is why Fitness Rangers is so fantastic. They have amazing trainers & staff who help push you to your limits and then some.
Both by participating in Bootcamp & training with Adam, I have thrived. I have set small goals along the way to increase my overall motivation and have reached every single one. My recipie for success has been to commit to doing 4 Bootcamp classes & 1 Personal Training session per week. This combination has worked for me because I have a personal trainer to answer to in the middle of the week, which is great for accountability! I also believe that moderation is the key to staying on any fitness plan. This has been the case for me in my weight loss journey after pregnancy.
I couldn’t do all of this without Adam & Fitness Rangers expertise, guidance, and the voice in my head that chants ‘nothing tastes as good as skinny feels.’ - Jill B.

Fitness Rangers Team,
After my first bootcamp in early February 2012, I was hooked. I joined as a member shortly after, and since then Fitness Rangers has helped me become the healthy person I knew I was meant to be.
My goal was to adopt a healthy lifestyle change, incorporating regular exercise routines and healthy food choices that I could stick with. I started with the intense bootcamp workouts twice a week and slowly increased to 4-5 times a week.
After a few months of fun and new exercise routines, I knew it was time to change my diet for the better. I completed the Advocare 24 Day Challenge, consisting of lean meats, fruits and vegetables, and my body started to change dramatically.
Fast forward 6 months later, and I am very happy with my results after hard work and the incredible encouragement of the trainers at Fitness Rangers. I keep progressing every day.
Fitness Rangers has been such a healthy and positive change in my life. I’ve been pushed to my absolute limits, which has allowed me to achieve more than I could do in my own exercise routines.
I have so much more endurance and strength during workouts, and am more energetic in life’s daily activities. I look forward to continuing to challenge myself to stay fit.
To the Fitness Rangers staff: Your hard work is much appreciated, and I know you will change more lives in the months to come!” -Whitney T.

To Adam & the Fitness Rangers Team,
This letter of appreciation goes out to you and your team at Fitness Rangers for all you have done in the transformation of my health, in part, to your extraordinary approach to exercise. I was a physical wreck at the end of 2011 from years of neglect. The first of the year my weight was 248 pounds and climbing. Some 65 plus pounds overweight for my 5′ 11″ frame.
Over the years most men my age (62) have been too busy chasing wealth rather than health and simply put business in front of well-being. Along the way because of this cavalier attitude health issues began creeping into my life due to being overweight. For instance, conditions such as sleep apnea, acid reflux, fatigue, anxiety all attributing to my poor health. My doctor said to deal with my apnea it was either; sleep with a mask, snorkel and pump the rest of your life or simply lose weight and as you know, I chose the latter.
You might recall my daughter Ashley first introduced us when your facility was being constructed. She was about to start work for Fitness Rangers as your massage therapist. The introduction that night resonated in me so much it got me thinking seriously about my personal health and doing something about it.
Losing weight is my challenge today, building muscle next and the greatest challenge will be maintaining. I have lost 34 pounds to date with my goal of reaching 198 pounds by my August birthday. What has been astonishing has been the new profound energy level, solid and restful sleep with virtually no snorting plus what seems to be a clearer thought process. I actually feel years younger and proud to say with an increase in my libido, Hoorah!
I must admit not all has been attributed to boot camp. What also was has been added to this turn-around has been a new diet for me. Adam, I also want to thank you and your team for helping in suggesting a nutritionist and weight plan which has lead to not only the weight loss but almost an elimination of the terrible acid reflux problem I had.
I can’t stress enough what exercise and proper diet can do for a person my age. I am only four plus months into a life changing program which I hope with work and tenacity will continue.
You shared with me about your wanting to develop a program targeting the “baby boomer” generation (seniors), I couldn’t agree with you more. Some, like myself, need to seriously look within to see where they are at physically in their lives and to question the quality of health and well-being they will want in the waning years. The younger generation may not understand what I am trying to covey but I do know most seniors certainly do.
You just can’t beat youth and I am encouraged by most in class motivating me, but you also can’t beat the wisdom of “us old fogies”. My hope is that some of the old fogies reading this are wise enough to heed what I am saying and join me in working together for a common cause, our health.
I want to thank you and your team immensely for the help and encouragement along this journey. Hoorah! - Mickey O.
The Fitness Rangers Story
It all started six years ago at 6:00am on a cold February morning. As I bear crawled through the frost-covered grass at Mckinley park that morning, Fitness Rangers was forged.
From Bear Crawls to Burpees to Wind Sprints and then back to Bear Crawls, the few brave and determined participants by my side became our inaugural class. For me, the driving goal for bringing this group together was simple: get in the best possible shape in the shortest amount of time, using the most unconventional methods possible. We wanted to provide a product and program that was results driven, affordable and downright different…as well as supportive and welcoming to recruits of all levels.
Now, fast forward six years. Our goal remains the same, but we are revolutionizing our program. We’re

launching a state-of-the-art fitness facility centered around our core bootcamp program. And, I’m happy to announce, Fitness Rangers Gym is now open!
With a team consisting of the most educated, inspiring and dedicated people in the industry, we continue to strive to create a fitness experience unlike any other with unparalleled results.
From the frost bitten grass of East Sac to a 5,000 square foot Fitness Rangers facility, we’ve come a long way. We hope our recruits love their new workout options…and new challenging workouts!
Hoorah!
Adam
